Project Highlight: GoMacro

Ashli from Basis here! It's been nearly 18 months since I last sent an email newsletter. To be honest, I wasn't sure I had anything to say. When I send an email, I don't want to add more noise. And with the onslaught of AI slop and the ability to generate anything at anytime, nothing I wrote felt worthy of sharing.

But, I've come out the other side deciding that humans sharing their creativity with each other still feels meaningful. So over the next few months, I want to share some of the magic we've been making over here at Basis.

Project Highlight: GoMacro's Website Redesign

A Brand That Deserved a Better Website

GoMacro makes clean, organic protein bars with a mission that's easy to root for: the belief that small, thoughtful choices can add up to real change for our communities and the planet. Their bars are vegan, sustainably grown and inspired by nature.

Their website, though, wasn't quite telling that story. The on-site visuals were extremely dated with no taste appeal. Case in point:

Clean Design for a Clean Protein Bar

Our team designed a custom Shopify site that reflects who they really are: clean, sustainable and inspired by the natural world. Every page was built to feel grounded yet elevated, the way you'd expect from a premium product that takes its sourcing seriously.

A Fresh Start on Shopify With the design direction set, we rebuilt the entire site on Shopify Plus, moving them away from a dated platform that was difficult to update or innovate on. Shopify gives GoMacro a faster, smoother shopping experience and a checkout that makes it easier for customers to get what they came for. We also set the foundation for strong search visibility and made sure the site meets WCAG accessibility standards, so everyone can shop with ease from day one.

Everything Working Together Behind the scenes, we connected all the systems that keep an operation like GoMacro's running: inventory, shipping, customer service, email and text marketing, retail store locators, wholesale, and more. We also built a brand new rewards platform and brand ambassador platform.

Everything now works together automatically, which saves the team time and cuts down on the manual busywork that used to slow them down. We also built several shopping experiences into a single store, including their main retail site, a private catalog for employee merch and a wholesale portal for business buyers.

Let's Build Yours If you're an e-commerce brand looking to improve conversion or better connect with your audience, we'd love to chat with you. Just reply to this email. Can't wait to connect.

Ashli here! It's been a while... eight months actually! For a long while, I've felt like I lost something meaningful to say that felt worthy of being in your inbox. Basis got busy, holidays happened, the world got loud, and the internet just has been feeling weird to me. Last night, I watched a video of Dan Levy talk about the process of making creative things and what he said really resonated. You can watch at the link above, but I typed it out below — in its entirety — to share here. (I'm a...

Last week was the summer solstice, and with the lengthening of sunlight with each passing month, I have felt a lengthening in my capacity. I mean that in a very literal work-sense: I have more capacity for projects, more time in my calendar. But also feel myself growing in capacity for those less tangible things, too. I have more capacity creatively. My kids are now ten and six... old enough to sleep in a tiny bit, dress themselves, entertain themselves for longer bits of time... and with...

I've been thinking a lot about the Slow Food Snail of Approval. Do you have this in your area? I hadn't heard of it before we moved to Jacksonville, but it's a certification that many restaurants proudly display that shows their commitment to: Sourcing local or sustainably Creating a positive environmental impact Offering cultural diversity in food Being actively involved in the community Providing significant support for staff Holding inclusive business values I was joking with a friend that...
